TOP TEN HEALTH TIPS
Keeping fit and healthy isn’t just about exercising regularly – it’s about how you view life, what you eat and how you approach every day with a positive mental attitude. So, to make sure that you benefit from maximum health benefits, take a look at our top 10 tips!
1. Get up, Get down - Move More
Exercise isn’t just about going to the gym. You can fit in exercise that will make your whole body fitter whilst going about your everyday life. So, walk instead of catching a cab, climb stairs instead of taking an elevator, go out and play soccer in the park with your kids, run up and down stairs just for the hell of it when you have a spare five minutes….and dance around the kitchen to loud music while you’re cooking!
2. Quit Smoking
If you are a smoker then you already know what I’m going to say here. QUIT! There are no advantages to smoking – you’ll shorten your life expectancy and potentially kill yourself into the bargain. If you have young kids then scare the living daylights out of them so they don’t start.
3. Flossing Makes You Live Longer
Strange as it may seem there are medical studies that show a connection between flossing your teeth and living longer. Why does it work? Who cares. Worth a try and makes your mouth nicer to be around!
4. Drink To Enjoy Not To Excess
Some health studies show that a couple of drinks a day can be beneficial against certain diseases. But, don’t use this as an excuse to drink to excess. Drinking may not just lead to alcoholism it can also cause liver failure, kidney disease and cancer.
5. Eat Thin, Be Thin
Eating fat will make you fat. Can’t get any clearer than that. Don’t just think about avoiding the obvious fatty food such as fries, burgers and fatty meats but think about your overall fat intake. Dairy products are a fatty food – but don’t avoid them completely as you need the calcium they give you – just switch to low fat.
6. Belt Up & Drive Safely
Wear your seat belt in the car at all times – it’s one of the easiest ways to live a long and healthy life! And, think about what you do when you are driving – talking on the phone, eating and drinking can make you an unsafe driver for both you and other people.
7. Mellow Out
Life can be stressful – but you can try hard to make it stress free. Make time for yourself every day, visit a spa, go out for lunch with a friend, have the girls round for a glass of wine. You’ll be amazed at how much better you feel – and, if you feel better, then you’re less likely to get stressed.
8. Take Care With The Environment
Pollution isn’t good for you so try to avoid it. Try not to spend time in smoky rooms, take a back street route to avoid traffic fumes when you’re out and about and don’t run near major roads or when smog factors are high. Put loads of plants in your yards – they’ll help alleviate street pollution. You can also think about reducing your pollution output by going carbon neutral. We did!
9. Look To Your Ancestors
Your genes may play a part in how healthy you are and whether you’ll encounter any specific problems as you get older. So, if your parents or other relatives are prone to certain illnesses and diseases then talk to your doctor about ways you can keep healthy. Get plenty of exercise, eat well and follow our tips for a healthy life!
10. Look On The Bright Side
People who are happy live longer. They are less prone to stress and illness so it’s worth smiling!
